Wenge is a hard and stiff tonewood that is very
resonant with an almost metallic tap tone, making it a viable alternative to
Rosewood – particularly Brazilian, but without the CITES regulations
It takes lacquer well, although does require grain filling,
and looks beautiful when finished.
